Just sitting there with closed eyes and crossed legs, I observe the flow of breath coming in and out from my nostrils. How simple it is, yet it runs the most complex mechanism in the world. It makes us alive.
Scrutinizing the whole body, makes me realize how my body reacts, not to the external events but to my own internal body sensations. Jealousy, anger, greed, and love, are just heat, pressure, lightness, and pain that our body endures throughout life. And they are not influenced by any external factors, but it is us (the inner us), who give significance to these feelings.
Why are these feelings so important to us? Obviously, it is natural. But, Aren’t we the most intellectual being on the earth? Don’t we manage to subdue our anger from time to time? Have you seen any other animal do this? Tease a chimpanzee, it will rip your chest apart, make a dog angry, it won’t be satisfied until it bites you.
But, an employee, who is always mad at her boss doesn’t carry a gun to her office. (aside from psychopaths and my bad story plot) We endure.
If we are capable of doing so, then I believe we are capable of not giving significance to these feelings.
For example,
You wake up feeling shit in the morning, instead of saying “fuck this life” can’t you say, “ Well, I am feeling shit today, but who cares?, This is life, and I am bound to feel every feeling.”
What difference does it make?
Yes, You won’t gain gratification as it is not a magic spell. You would be feeling shit, but you won’t be dissatisfied with it.
